Empire Academy

Our academy enrolls grades 4th - 8th. 

Academy students enroll with either Method Schools (4th-8th) or EPIC CA Academy (holdbacks). **Empire Sports Academy is NOT affiliated as an academic institution of Method or EPIC.** We are an academic learning center providing a space for your child to learn and complete their assignments, uninterrupted, and with the assistance of mentors. With Method Schools and EPIC Academy, your child will enjoy personalized attention, small classes, and flexible scheduling - all within a trusted WASC-accredited online learning community. 

Our student-athletes attend the Academy, Monday through Thursday. Their studies begin at 8:30 am, with their day concluding at 2:30 pm. However, some classes conclude their day at 1:00 pm, depending on the student's grade. Fridays are rest days in which our student-athletes complete their studies from the comfort of their own home.

Method/Epic Schools is a fully online based program and curriculum. Students should be able to navigate a Chromebook with ease, as well as, be able to navigate and learn the Smartfox curriculum platform to be able to complete their schoolwork and submit all of their assignments. The first week of school, there is always a learning curve, but our tutors and mentors do a great job at teaching the students how to navigate the homeschool platform. Parents should also be able to navigate a Chromebook and learn the Smartfox system to be able to assist their child/children with their studies. ***In order to properly succeed in the Method/Epic program while at Empire, students are required to be able to read and write fluently.*** Student-athletes wishing to attend our academy should be motivated to learn and to excel both educationally and in their sport. Student-athletes attending our academy must also be respectful of their peer's education. We fully recognize that coming to our academy is a huge investment on each parent's behalf. Students should be able to get the most out of their studies without disruptions from others. 

Each grade and classroom has a mentor(s) available to guide students throughout their day and keep them on track with their studies. Every student-athlete receives a weekly "pacing guide" from their online charter school teacher. These pacing guides let our athletes know exactly which assignments need to be completed each day. Our mentors keep track of these lessons/assignments and make sure students are completing and submitting them on time. Our mentors are there to assist in keeping your child organized, as well as, going above and beyond to give your child the  "classroom" experience that they deserve. The Empire aims to be a home away from home for all of our wonderful athletes and families!

Although Empire has tutors and mentors onsite to assist with your student-athletes education during "school hours", it is imperative that you are helping your student at home and staying active in their education, as well. Any schoolwork not completed during the day, will have to be completed at home to ensure that the students stay on track with their pacing guides. If a student goes home on Monday and has not finished the assignment on Monday's pacing guide, it is THEIR and YOUR responsibility as a parent to make sure it gets finished that night or sometime thereafter. Each day athletes arrive at Empire, tutors will begin the day keeping the students on track with THAT DAYS pacing guide. Ex. Tuesdays at Empire will be allocated for assignments on Tuesdays pacing guide, whether or not you finished Monday's assignments. 

Every Charter School offers their students a specific amount of funds to use each year. These funds help assist with the overall cost of Empires yearly tuition. Method/Epic Charter funds pay $300 monthly, directly to Empire Sports Academy, as we are your student-athletes physical education vendor. There is nothing that needs to be done on the parents behalf to arrange this payment. If parents decide to use their designated Method/Epic charter funds towards other services or vendors, they will be responsible for paying the monthly difference directly to Empire Sports Academy.

Students must dress in Empire Sports Academy apparel each day that they attend. Apparel must be purchased through our vendor or directly from Empire Sports Academy.

Shorts Policy: If students do not purchase Empire shorts, they will be allowed to wear a short preference of their choice as long as those shorts are ALL BLACK. No patterns or other colors can be included. 

Students will be issued Chromebooks through their Charter School. Every student should come prepared daily with a backpack, their Chromebook, their Chromebook charger, a notebook for scratch paper, pencils/pens, and the most important... HEADPHONES. Due to daily zoom meetings, every child must have a pair of plug in headphones to prevent class disruptions. 

All student-athletes will have lunch and nutrition break. Being a facility that promotes health, we strongly urge student-athletes to show up with nutritious meals that will power them through their day of academics and exercise. We ask that candy, unhealthy snacks and fast food be avoided as much as possible during Empire hours. 

Total school-year tuition at the academy costs $8,990. This total is broken down into 10 payments of $899. However, due to homeschool charter funds, $300 of that amount is covered directly by Method/Epic each month. **This brings the parent portion down to just $599/month** 

With 96 hours at our facility and 16+ trainings a month, this is an amazing opportunity!

We can't say it enough. Empire Sports Academy is NOT your child's school. METHOD and EPIC are your accredited schools. It is ultimately your responsibility as a parent to make sure your child is staying on track with their education. If your student will ever be absent from Empire for the day, it is still your responsibility to make sure that they are completing their work and daily zoom meetings. Especially on Fridays when students are home. 

Our tutors and mentors are there to help guide your students throughout the day with their studies and pacing guides, however, your child's grades do not fall on them.
